Schiphol REMOVING CONCRETE AROUND TENSION BARS AT PLATFORM SCHIPHOL

  • Duration Multiple phases 2014-present
  • Segment International contractors, Civil engineering
  • Solution Rebar-saving demolition

In order to handle 500,000 flights a year, you need a solid and safe platform. Volkerinfra takes care of the platform pavements. Tension bars were used to reinforce the concrete. Volkerinfra asked us to remove the contaminated concrete around these bars at the airport platform.

THE SOLUTION

We carried out the work on the platform accurately with a hydrodemolition robot and unit with a capacity of 1600 bar and 166 litres per minute. This allowed us to remove the damaged concrete without damaging the tension bars. Our techniques made it possible to carry out large-scale demolition work in the immediate vicinity of costly planes at an airport in operation.
