Solution
Rebar-saving demolition
After almost 100 years, the Noordersluis in IJmuiden needs to be replaced. A new, larger sea lock needs to improve the accessibility of the port of Amsterdam for seagoing vessels that are getting larger and larger. The OpenIJ partnership is responsible for designing, building, financing and maintaining the new sea lock for the coming 26 years. In order to renew the deep walls of the sea lock, 600 mm¹ of concrete has to be removed in a heavily reinforced structure.
THE SOLUTION
ADS has removed the imperfections in the deep walls of the lock. These activities were completed within a week using a hydrodemolition robot and unit with a capacity of 1600 bar and 166 litres per minute.
“Hydrodemoltion to a great depth is a considerable challenge. The interaction between Principal and ADS is of great importance and the cornerstone in the succes of a project”
